Audi is ‘defining the digital experience of the future’ at CES 2020

When it comes to tech, the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is one of the world’s most essential conventions. And we’re happy to report: Audi brought their A Game.

Introducing: AI:ME

At CES, attendees took in the fully automated Audi AI:ME, a fully-automated car that doubles as a “third living space” — a place to relax and unwind that’s separate from our homes and offices. It’s

Just imagine: Using eye tracking to intuitively communicate with the show car and have it order their favorite food. How about wellness experience by way of VR, allowing occupants to enjoy a virtual flight across a spectacular mountain landscape: “The technology adapts virtual content to the movements of the vehicle in real time. The result: Passengers can fully relax and get away from their hectic day-to-day lives. They return to reality when they have arrived at their destination.”

Talk about a luxurious and civilized way of maneuvering through traffic.

The Audi Intelligence Experience

The AI:ME was just the beginning. Audi also outlined its vision for a car that both thinks for itself and is empathetic.

Over time, it learns who you are. It tailors the driving experience to you, the user, exactly as you like it.

The current generation of MMI systems are already integrated with the self-learning navigation system which saves preferred destinations, connects them with the date, time, and current traffic situation, and derives suggested routes from this data.

In the future? A precise analysis of everything from seat position, media, route guidance, and temperature, to even the interior’s fragrance.

Personal touch has always been one of Audi’s strong suits, but as it begins to understand the user at a granular level, the Audi Intelligence Experience is on another level entirely.

Spatial Vision in Mixed Reality

What if you can project route guidance arrows while driving, right onto the road? This is mixed reality, and it’s working to make driving an Audi even more intuitive.

How does it work? It’s complex, but like a 3D television, there are two views generated: one for each of your eyes. The effect is an optical illusion, but it makes a seamless image that floats ahead of your vision.

Human-Centric Lighting

Everything you’ve read this far? It’s Audi’s attempt to make driving intelligent and empathetic. But what about lighting that supports your memory and concentration?

Human-Centric Lighting, as CES attendees saw, is a project to make the interior illumination of your Audi reflect your mood and energy level as a driver.

For example, a special light can provide a remedy for tired drivers: Blue, cool white light has a stimulating and invigorating effect.
