Do you ever dream of driving off into the sunset?
Audi’s latest concept vehicle can do just that — regardless of the terrain ahead.
Part of Audi’s 2019 fleet of four concept cars (which includes the AI:CON, AI:ME, and AI:RACE), the AI:TRAIL is the company’s first car in the modern era to proudly bear the company name on the tail, in lieu of the traditional Four Rings design.
It’s also a revolutionary take on the recreational vehicle.
It might look small, but inside is spacious — just a little shorter than the Audi Q3, in fact. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean the AI:TRAIL lacks power or versatility. (Far from it.)
Boasting as many engines as it has wheels, the concept produces 430 HP and features 738 lb.-ft. of torque, meaning it’s not going to be pushed around.
And if anyone is skeptical of its electric engines, the AI:TRAIL target range is a whopping 400-500 km when on-road, a distance that’s extended from the concept car’s regenerative braking systems.
If only we could give it a test drive! The AI:TRAIL will remain a dream car of the future, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have footage of it in action. On their YouTube channel, Driving.ca gives a thorough first look at this incredible concept car, one that walks a rare balance between form, function, and off-road joy.
