Magnum opus. It’s a term synonymous with “masterpiece,” and according to Robb Report’s Sean Evans, totally befitting the 2020 Audi R8 V10 (European model shown above).
And why not? Audis are built on great design — an art form in and of itself. The new R8 V10 is a culmination of time-honoured tradition, innovative thinking, and a passion for great performance. And we think such achievement is something to celebrate.
So what makes this ‘supercar’ such a great choice? Two reasons, says Evans, who took the R8 for a test drive through the scenic mountains outside of Ojai, California.
One, it’s just a dream to drive — and it’s got a ton of horses (602, to be exact). “The engine’s growl increases to a deeply satisfying howl all the way through the 8,700 rpm redline,” Evans writes. “The coupe is blisteringly quick off the line… as it shreds to sixty in 3.2 seconds.”
Two, surprisingly strong everyday usability for a supercar. "The versatility of the R8 affords livability, and that goes a long way," says Evans. “Logging long hours and hundreds of miles in the R8 would be a pleasant affair, especially if you’ve eschewed the race seats for bolstered ones.”
But what about those everyday errands like a quick trip to the grocery store? The comfort, style, and performance make it entirely feasible — something other supercars might not make sense for.
The praise for this vehicle is so enthusiastic, we’d love to quote the entire thing. But that’d spoil the fun!
