(Almost) endless summer

Aug 19, 2020 4:20:52 PM / by Audi Midtown

Summer is a truly magical time in Toronto, and it’s amazing to watch the city come alive, bustling with events and activities.

This summer, however …

It’s been pretty different than any that has come before, to say the least. And to think that it’s almost over. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t a ton of ways you can finish out your favourite season in style. In fact, Toronto Life has handily compiled an extensive guide to help you do just that.

Here are a few of our top picks.

  • Catch a movie in the seat of your Audi
Every other Friday until September 4, Downsview Park will show a film in a car-friendly format, curated by Made Nous, an organization celebrating the work of Canadian filmmakers. So far, the movies shown have been Arrival and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Act.
  • Immerse yourself in art.
You can take in the work of post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh as digital projections set to a soundtrack by Luca Longobardi. The exhibit is available as a walk-in (with circles beamed onto the floor to maintain social distancing) or drive-in experience.
  • Book a concert on your porch
Bring live classical music home — and give your neighbours a treat in the process — with Pocket Concerts. They’ll send a chamber ensemble to play on your porch for a group of up to 10 people on your lawn and down the street.
  • Have a picnic
Head on over to Edwards Gardens or Sunnybrook Park with a plus one, but be sure to pre-order a tasty picnic spread from McEwan that you can easily pick up on the way — soak up the sun and have a great meal, all the same time.
  • Take a road trip and grab some tacos
Hit the road and make your way to Port Hope, where you can find Rey Ray’s Mexican food truck. Be warned though: You’ll need to pre-order, as they can sell out quickly. It’s that good.

Remember: Summer isn’t over until we say it’s over.
