Christmas traditions are traditions for a reason — whether it’s looking ahead to a massive turkey dinner or marvelling at beautiful outdoor decorations, these are the things that give us those warm feelings of joy this time of year. Many of our Audi Midtown staff have their own traditions that they cheerfully uphold ever single year.
Both Audi Reception team member Jody Mckenzie and General Sales Manager Mitch Carless include a visit to the iconic Toronto Christmas Market in the Distillery District as a must-do during the holidays. There are plenty of great events and can’t miss performances as the market celebrates its 10th anniversary, but if you’re like Jody, the main attraction is the lights and decorations. Creator and executive director Mathew Rosenblatt told CTV News that they upped their light game big time this year: “Expect your mind to explode.”
And don’t forget about the Fair in The Square! A mix of holiday market and winter carnival in Nathan Phillips Square, it’s perfect for an afternoon of shopping, snacking, and skating.
It wouldn’t be a classic Christmas without classic movies, and Netflix Canada will have more than 30 options available for those of us who like to have their favourite festive flicks on when family or friends come over. Their list includes How the Grinch Stole Christmas, one of Mitch’s personal favs.
And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Christmas dinner, one of the holiday traditions both Jody and Mitch most look forward to. Jody is all about the delicious flavours in her mom’s stuffing, but we’d bet that while she’s visiting the Christmas market, she’d be inclined to try the Gobbler Poutine made with smoked turkey and stuffing.
For Mitch, a good ol’ turkey dinner is the main attraction, since it’s only featured a few times per year. If you’ve got a hankering but your Christmas dinner is still weeks away, fear not: We’ve got you covered. Black Creek Pioneer Village offers a Sunday Christmas lunch on December 8, 15, and 22 that comes complete with turkey and all the trimmings, plus a butter tart crème fraiche ice cream for dessert. How’s that for holiday spirit!
